Jaime Suvak is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She is a trauma therapist, activist, educator, and prevention specialist in the field of sexual violence prevention, response, and healing for over 25 years. Ms. Suvak is currently a Ph.D. student in the School for Global Inclusion and Social Development at UMASS, Boston. Her area of research is creating inclusive pathways to prevention, response, and healing for survivors of sexual violence who are persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Previously, Ms. Suvak helped build a groundbreaking new sexual assault program for adults with intellectual disabilities at the Disabled Persons Protection Commission in Massachusetts. This program includes innovative solutions, creating trauma-informed care via professional and peer support. A certified supervisor through MaMHCA, her former positions include: serving as a Clinical Director and Emergency Services Director for two urban rape crisis programs in Massachusetts, as well as graduate and undergraduate teaching positions at Boston University School of Medicine, Northeastern University, UMASS-Boston, Emmanuel and Curry Colleges.
